Thriving Beyond Belief with Cheryl Scruggs

Jul 18, 2018

Lisa Clark joins me today on Thriving Beyond Belief! Lisa and I go way back, and I am so excited for her to join me today!

Lisa and her husband, Brad, reside in Dallas and have been married for 32 years. They have 2 beautiful daughters (with a grandson and one on the way!). Lisa first began her ministry with teaching on the book “Age of Opportunity” at her church. This propelled her into developing a platform for parent ministry. She recently put out a book called “Raising Sinners”, that is a culmination of her talks that Biblically align with passing the baton of faith to the next generation.

We discuss how Lisa defines thriving. Knowing what her purpose and mission in life led to the channel in which Lisa is able to glorify the Lord.

In this episode, we talk about the strengths and struggles of marriage, and how in marriage, we can be better together than we are apart. We must not forget that God is still at work in marriages that exceed 30 years just like He is in marriages that have just begun. One beautiful part of marriage is that marriage is the one place we can be vulnerable. We, as husbands and wives, should embrace that in each other and feel the safety the Lord gives us in our marriage.

From talking about the balance of the order of the home to how to let children become beautifully independent to confidence in who God created each person to be, Lisa shares such wisdom in what the Lord has taught her through His Word and time walking intimately with Him. Lisa shares some of her own struggles she has had- as a woman, as mom, and as a wife- and how to greet each day with appreciation and trust in the Lord.

There are so many nuggets of wisdom in this podcast. We emphasize that the world is going to try and convince us that being a daughter of the King isn’t enough. But we must cling to the truth of the hope of the Lord and not believe the lies of the enemy. Remember that He has equipped us for the relationships and situations we are in. Walk confidently in parenting, in marriage, and in sharing the Gospel!

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did and that it brings peace to your day!
